Commission
for Youth Apostolate

The goal of youth ministry is to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today. It aims to teach the youth how to serve others and to serve Christ, bringing about the Kingdom of God. Youth are empowered when they are welcomed into a Church that speaks to their hearts with the “joy of the Gospel and the strength of the Eucharist” as St. John Paul II said. The young people will commit themselves totally to Jesus Christ in concrete ways if they frequently engage with the Gospel. It will challenge their spiritual lives and inspire them to enjoy the adventure of discipleship through the Church. The youth must be made responsible participants in the life, mission and work of the faith community. They should be helped to grow in faith through family, parish, school and other youth organizations. The commission for youth aims to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. Youth ministry in the Church should promote holistic growth and development; that is, growth and development of the entire person. Pastors and parents must listen to the specific developmental, social, and religious needs of the youth and nurture them accordingly.
