Commission for Migrants was erected in the Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain on 15th of December, 2020. The Commission was established in the context of increasing migration of Syro-Malabar faithful to Great Britain from different Syro-Malabar Archeparchies and Eparchies in India. Our Eparchy realized that it is the time to focus more on the new arrivals as we anticipate that many more are in the process of obtaining UK Visas to study here at the universities in Great Britain and to work in different areas.

Being a pastoral responsibility, the eparchy would like to extend a warm welcome and offer our helping hand to the new arrivals as they travel to and settle down here in Great Britain so that they may be placed and guided in an appropriate way. In the light of this conviction, the Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain has opened up a helpdesk under the leadership of Rev Fr Andrews Chethalan, Chairman of the Eparchial Commission for Migrants. It is envisaged that when this helpdesk gets the information of the Syro-Malabar faithful coming to a particular location of the Eparchy, the information will be passed on to the priest-in-charge of that particular area. This will enable the priest to support the new arrivals with the help of the Syro-Malabar faithful in the area, thereby allowing them to have a welcoming atmosphere as they arrive in Great Britain. To serve the aforementioned purpose, an online form has been created to collect the contact details of the Syro-Malabar faithful newly arriving to Great Britain, subject to their consent and compliance with the GDPR Law of this country. The obtained data will only be stored and used in accordance with the UK laws and regulations.
