The ninth Aylesford Pilgrimage, now recognized as the largest pilgrimage gathering of Syro-Malabar faithful in Britain, will be held on May 23 at the historic Aylesford Carmelite Priory.

The pilgrimage will be led by Mar Joseph Srampickal, Bishop of the Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain. Extensive preparations are underway at the diocesan level, coordinated by the Aylesford Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mission with the support of the London and Canterbury regions. A large number of faithful from across the United Kingdom are expected to participate in this annual expression of Marian devotion.

Aylesford Priory, located in Kent, is one of England’s ancient Marian pilgrimage sites. It holds special significance as the place where the Blessed Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared to Saint Simon Stock, presenting the Brown Scapular. This connection gives the shrine a deep spiritual link with the devotional life of Syro-Malabar Christians.

The pilgrimage will begin at 11:15 a.m. with a Rosary procession through the shrine grounds. This will be followed by the solemn celebration of the Holy Qurbana, presided over by the Mar Joseph Srampickal. A festive procession carrying statues of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and other saints will take place thereafter. A fellowship meal will also be arranged for all participants.
