Thousands Gather for the 10th Annual Walsingham Pilgrimage of the Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain

The Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain celebrated the 10th Annual Walsingham Marian Pilgrimage at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, bringing together thousands of faithful from across the United Kingdom for a day of prayer, devotion, and spiritual renewal.

Led by His Excellency Mar Joseph Srampickal, Bishop of the Eparchy of Great Britain, the pilgrimage began with Sapra prayers, Eucharistic Adoration, and a Marian reflection by Very Rev. Dr Antony Chundelikkat, Proto-Syncellus of the Eparchy. The solemn procession, accompanied by mission banners, statues of saints, hymns, and the Holy Rosary, beautifully expressed the rich Marian devotion and faith traditions of the Syro-Malabar community.

The Solemn Holy Qurbana was celebrated by Bishop Mar Joseph Srampickal, with the participation of Very Rev. Dr Antony Chundelikkat, Rev. Dr Mathew Pinakkattu, Rev. Fr Fanswa Pathil, Rev. Fr Joe Mathew, Rev. Fr Jinu Mundunadackal, and priests from across the Eparchy.

In his homily, Bishop Mar Joseph Srampickal reflected on the Blessed Virgin Mary’s role in salvation history and encouraged the faithful to grow in holiness through the Word of God and a life of deep faith. He reminded the pilgrims that Mary’s obedience and trust in God remain a model for every Christian.

Very Rev. Dr Antony Chundelikkat, during his Marian reflection, highlighted Mary’s maternal care and intercession, encouraging families to remain close to Christ through prayer and devotion.

The Rector of the Catholic National Shrine and Basilica of Our Lady of Walsingham, Rev. Dr Robert Billing, warmly welcomed the pilgrims. The Eparchy expressed gratitude to the Rector, clergy, volunteers, Rev. Fr Jinu Mundunadackal, the Cambridge Region team, choir members, and all those who contributed to the success of the pilgrimage.

The 10th Annual Walsingham Pilgrimage concluded with thousands of faithful returning home spiritually renewed, strengthened in faith, and inspired by the maternal love of Our Lady of Walsingham.
