Chancellor and Finance Officer,  Syro Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain

Fr Mathew Pinakkattu,  Catholic Priest who hails from the Eparchy of Palai,  Kerala India, was born as the eldest of two children of Mr. P.M. Sebastian and Mrs. Dolly Sebastian on 28 November 1976 at Peringulam Kerala, India.  In 1999 after completing his degree in Philosophy at St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary Kottayam, Kerala, India,  Rev. Pinakkattu  was sent for Bachelor of Theology by his Eparchy to Pontifical Urban College, Rome. Following his successful completion of BTh in Rome, Rev. Pinakkattu  pursued his study for licentiate in Canon Law which he completed in 2006.

Fr. Mathew Pinakkattu was ordained Priest on 09 July 2005 at St. Thomas Cathedral Palai,  Kerala, India. After his Ordination, Fr. Pinakkattu served in his capacity as the Vice Chancellor and  the Judge of the tribunal for four years in  the Eparchy of Palai. Later in 2010 while serving in an Italian Parish in Rome,   Fr. Matthew commenced  doctoral research in Canon Law in Pontifical Oriental Institute, Rome. On completion of his research in 2013 Fr. Mathew was awarded Doctorate in Oriental Canon Law on his thesis 'The Territorial Jurisdiction of a Major Archbishop with special reference to the Syro Malabar Church’ by the Pontifical Oriental Institute, Rome. Fr. Mathew, on his return from Rome, was appointed as the Parish Priest of  St. George’s Church, Urulikunnam in the Eparchy of Palai. In 2015 Fr Mathew was appointed as the chaplain to Syro Malabar community and the assistant priest of Santuario della Misericordia in Savona, Italy. When  Syro Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain was erected in 2016, Fr. Mathew was appointed as Chancellor by Mar Joseph Srampickal, the first bishop of the Eparchy. In 2019 he was appointed as the Finance officer of the Eparchy.
